March Madness 2019: Will Duke’s Cam Reddish play against Michigan State?

first_imgKrzyzewski explained after Friday’s 75-73 win that they prepared all week to play Reddish in the starting lineup but learned right before the game Reddish was injured.”We didn’t know until right before the game that he was not going to be able to play,” Krzyzewski said, per the Duke Chronicle. “He went out, just had something wrong with his knee. He was limping, but we didn’t find out until right before the game.” Related News March Madness 2019: Updated odds to win the NCAA Tournament entering Elite Eight Duke could be without one of its star players when the Blue Devils take the court against Michigan State in the Elite Eight. Coach Mike Krzyzewski revealed Saturday freshman forward Cam Reddish will be a game-time decision for Sunday after he missed Friday’s Sweet 16 victory over Virginia Tech, according to the Detroit Free Press. Reddish said he tweaked his knee Thursday and he will go through treatment, though he doesn’t have any structural damage. When asked if Reddish would be ready for Sunday, Williamson said: “Honestly, I’m not even sure myself. I hope he’d be back Sunday. I hope he recovers as quick as possible, but if not, we have to work with who we got.”If Reddish isn’t ready to play in the Elite Eight, Duke will likely rely on sophomore guard Alex O’Connell again. O’Connell replaced Reddish against the Hokies, scoring four points in 35 minutes. Reddish has averaged 13.6 points while shooting 35 percent from the field for the Blue Devils. Zion Williamson shared a conversation he had with Reddish when he learned about his teammate’s injury. “I talked to him before the game, and he was skeptical about whether he wanted to play,” Williamson told reporters after the game. “I was like, ‘If you can’t go out there and play, you won’t be letting us down.’ “last_img read more
