WWE Wrestling WWE SummerSlam: Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns as it happened

first_imgNew Delhi: World Wrestling Entertainment’s (WWE) summer extravaganza SummerSlam was full of surprises for the fans. In the main event of WWE SummerSlam, Roman Reigns was up against the beast incarnate Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship and the match lived up to its hype. After both Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar entered the ring, Paul Heyman took over the microphone and in his usual rampant style started announcing, “Defending, defending, defending, defending, defending…” and suddenly a music interrupted the announcement. What happens next? A giant of an athlete comes walking in his own brute style, and that athlete was none other than Money in the Bank holder Braun Strowman. There was a huge pop after Braun entered by saying that everyone knows the history of the briefcase and will never cash it while his opponents are down on their back and he will only cash it while standing face to face with his opponents.ALSO READ: WWE SummerSlam 2018 Results: Final Results, HighlightsBraun dropped the mic and got out of the ring while Lesnar stared straight at him. Cricket News Keshav Maharaj, Vernon Philander Stitch Record Ninth Wicket Stand For South Africa Vs India

first_img For all the Latest Sports News News, Cricket News News, Download News Nation Android and iOS Mobile Apps. New Delhi: At 162/8, South Africa were staring down the barrel in their pursuit of India’s 601/5 declared. Faf du Plessis had fallen for 64 and one felt that it was only a matter of time before India enforced the follow-on. However, in a spirited display of batting, Keshav Maharaj and Vernon Philander held the Indian bowling at bay and stitched a record partnership for the ninth wicket to keep South Africa’s fight going on day 3 of the Pune Test at the MCA stadium. Maharaj and Philander/s stand of 109 is the best for the ninth wicket in Tests between India and South Africa. The duo broke the previous record of 91 which was incidentally set during the Vizag Test between Dane Piedt and Senuran Muthusamy. This was the fourth best ninth wicket partnership by a visiting team in India. Both Maharaj and Philander batted sensibly and negotiated the pace and spin combination brilliantly. Philander was content on blocking balls and making slow progress while Maharaj capitalised on boundaries whenever given a chance. Maharaj took a particular liking to Jadeja and Shami as he scored boundaries square of the wicket and straight down the ground to notch up his maiden fifty. The duo batted close to 40 overs and they looked like taking South Africa to safety. However, on 72, Maharaj looked to glance a flighted ball on the pads by Ravichandran Ashwin but he only managed to find Rohit Sharma who was perfectly positioned at leg slip. Philander played out a couple of overs but Kagiso Rabada was trapped LBW by Ashwin as South Africa conceded a 326-run lead. The Pune Test has belonged to Kohli so far as he broke several records during his knock of 254. After notching up his seventh double ton, 19th as skipper and also went past 7000 runs in Tests, he clobbered Dean Elgar over wide long on to notch up his 250 and register his highest individual score in Tests. He went past Sachin Tendulkar’s highest individual score of 248 which he made against Bangladesh in 2004.Also Read | Ravindra Jadeja’s Falls Hilariously While Appealing In Pune Test, Gets WarnedThis was Kohli’s 50th Test as Indian skipper and this was his ninth 150-plus score as captain, breaking the record set by Sir Don Bradman who had smashed eight. Kohli has scored a century in 11 different venues in India and his 19th century as captain levelled the mark set by Ricky Ponting of Australia.last_img read more

Women’s soccer: Northwestern hands Wisconsin surprising 2-0 loss

first_imgThe University of Wisconsin women’s soccer team (10-4-2, 4-3-2 Big Ten) was unable to put up any points Sunday against conference rival Northwestern (8-6-2, 5-3-1 Big Ten).In what was a quiet contest for the first 37 minutes of play, Northwestern surged before half to score two goals.  Unfortunately for the Badgers, they were unable to match this offensive output in the remaining minutes.Wisconsin women’s soccer fights the Illini, walks away with a 1-0 victoryThe University of Wisconsin women’s soccer team is back on track after defeating the Illinois Fighting Illini on Friday night Read…Mckenna Agnotti scored the first of the two goals for the Wildcats on a strong shot from the left side of the field, assisted by both Brenna Lovera and Kim Jerantowski.  The latter was finished less than three minutes later by Marisa Viggiano on a free kick put-in.Wisconsin was able to stay competitive in the shot count with their opponents, attempting five shots on goal to Northwestern’s six.  However, the execution just was simply absent on both sides of the field for the Badgers.Goalkeeper Caitlyn Clem was unable to match her cousin Lauren’s performance in the game. Caitlyn’s .667 save percentage on the day was below her average and gave the Badgers little chance with the stagnant offense they displayed Sunday. On the other hand, Lauren Clem of Northwestern made all five of her saves, leaving a goose egg in the Badger’s box score. Lauren appears to be hitting her stride for the Wildcats, notching her second straight shutout in the home win. While the Badgers once again went with a three forward rotation, it was ultimately unsuccessful.  Lauren Rice and Cameron Murtha were the only strikers to have shots on goal, with two and one respectively.Looking forward, the Badgers hopes for the Big Ten tournament appear to be darkening.  This loss gives Northwestern a lead in the conference standings, where Wisconsin places sixth. However, the Badgers’ seed could fall to eighth within the next game, as only one point separates them from Purdue and Nebraska.Women’s soccer: Badgers get momentum back against Purdue after unsuccessful road tripAfter an underwhelming road trip, the University of Wisconsin women’s soccer team has gotten its winning streak back on track Read…Unfortunately for the Wisconsin women, their final road stand seems to be leaving them with more questions than answers. Will the Badgers generate enough offense to compete in tournament games?  Can Caitlyn Clem consistently keep this team in low scoring games? The Badgers will look to answer these questions as they move on to Iowa on Saturday before returning to Madison to play their final home game on Oct. 25.last_img read more

Government Drops Effort to Silence Michael Cohen Before Book Release

first_imgFor their part, probation authorities told Hellerstein in court documents that Cohen was sent back to prison for refusing to sign a form that would have banned him from publishing the book or communicating with the media or public. The Bureau of Prisons has claimed that any assertion that the re-imprisonment of Cohen “was a retaliatory action is patently false.”Cohen was released to home confinement last Friday, after being at the prison since July 9.Sources say his book will offer details on the circumstances that led him to plead guilty to campaign finance charges and subsequently blame Trump for allegedly directing him to commit those crimes. The charges resulted from Cohen’s efforts to arrange payouts during the 2016 presidential race to keep porn actress Stormy Daniels and model Karen McDougal from making public claims of extramarital affairs with Trump. The president has repeatedly denied the affairs. In a written declaration, Cohen said that his book “will provide graphic and unflattering details about the President’s behavior behind closed doors.” The U.S. government on Thursday dropped its effort to silence President Trump’s former personal lawyer, saying it will no longer demand that Michael Cohen avoid speaking with the media in the weeks before his book about Trump is released. An agreement between the government’s lawyers and Cohen’s attorney, Danya Perry, lifting the media ban that was keeping Cohen from speaking publicly now awaits a federal judge’s signature.Cohen is now completing the last two years of a three-year prison sentence at home after pleading guilty to campaign finance charges and lying to Congress. He was temporarily released from prison last May due to fears about the coronavirus, and was returned there in June, after announcing that he planned to publish a book that is critical of the president.Additionally, Cohen stated in court papers that the book, titled, “Disloyal: The True Story of Michael Cohen, Former Personal Attorney to President Donald J. Trump,” will be released before the November election. The 53-year-old Cohen had sued federal prison officials and U.S. Attorney General William Barr, arguing that he was ordered back to prison simply because of the book. However, U.S. Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein last week ordered that Cohen be released, saying that the government had retaliated and violated his First Amendment rights.last_img read more

KCCA aim for home victory against CNaPS in Champions League tie

Said KCCA FC coach Mike Mutebi, while addressing journalist ahead of the game.“But we know that we are a strong side and have got a squad full of well-educated players who can step in a get the job done.“In terms of preparation, I think we have had the best prep we could have asked for and I am sure the boys are all set.“The game itself is not going to be easy because CNaPS is a team that knows how to use the ball and the fact that they hold a 2-1 advantage from the first leg, they will surely give us a lot of problems.Mike Mutebi also came out and lauded the influence of Allan Okello and the fact that the team will look to him for inspiration.“We are lucky that we have a player like Allan Okello in our team. Mutebi said.“We will be counting on him to unlock their defence and I am sure he will.KCCA captain Timothy Awanyi also highlighted the importance of the game.“It is a very important fixture for us as a team because it is the first step to trying and match last season’s performances.“We lost the first leg 2-1 but since then, we have had a chance to correct the mistakes we made in that game and hopefully we will execute our play better.KCCA FC head into the fixture with a superb home record that has seen them not lose a continental game since March 2014 when Nkana Red Devils of Zambia came out 2-1 winners in Lugogo. In that period, KCCA has won six of the seven games they have played, drawing 1-1 with Mamelodi Sundowns in the other.CNaPS enjoyed their last visit to East Africa when they defeated Gor Mahia of Kenya 2-1 but that is their only away victory in their last six games that have seen them lose five matches. Both teams progressed passed this round last year as KCCA eliminated Angolan side  Clube Desportivo Primeiro de Agosto and CNaPS saw off  Township Rollers of Botswana. The winner of this fixture takes on the team victorious between St George of Ethiopia and South Sudan’s Al-Saalam Wau.Comments Tags: CNaPSKCCAsports toplast_img read more

Google’s New Nexus Line Challenges Apple On All Fronts

first_imgThe three new Nexus devices Google announced on Monday –  two tablets and a smartphone – will be the Android linchpins for the holiday shopping season. This is the first time that Google has announced more than one of its flagship Nexus touch screen devices at once and the trio diversifies the company’s approach to the mobile market in a brand new way.  Three New NexusesThe three new Nexus devices cover a wide range of shapes and sizes:Nexus 4: Google partnered for with smartphone manufacturer LG for the first time for a Nexus device. This quad-core smartphone boasts a 4.7-inch screen (the same size as the Samsung Galaxy S 3 and HTC One X) and ships with Android 4.2, the latest version of Android Jelly Bean. The 16GB version of the device will be available on T-Mobile. Pricing is expected to start at $299, for an unlocked HSPA+ phone – no LTE capability. was announced.Nexus 7: Google has improved the internal storage of the original Nexus tablet, bumping it up to 16GB for $199 and 32GB for $249. Google has also acquiesced to public demand and produced a Nexus 7 with cellular capabilities, giving the Nexus 7 with 32GB of storage an HSPA+ connection for $299. For comparison, the iPad Mini with cellular connectivity and 16GB of storage starts at $459. Nexus 10: Google’s first venture into a large-form-factor tablet, the Nexus 10 was created in partnership with Samsung. It boasts a 2560-by-1600 display (300 pixels per inch) and will have nine hours of video playback battery life (500 hours standby). The Nexus 10 starts at $399 for the 16GB model. A 32GB version is $499.The Nexus 4 and 10 will go on sale through Android’s Google Play store on Nov. 13. The refreshed Nexus 7 goes on sale today. The Nexus ImpactIt is only fair that if we call out Apple for releasing two new iPads in a year (and making some consumers feel like suckers for buying the first one), then we have to call out Google for the same treatment. Google announced its first Nexus 7 tablet at Google I/O in June. It was a 8GB device at $199. Now, here we are less than six months later and there are three new models (16GB/32GB Wi-Fi and 32GB Wi-Fi/HSPA+) between $199 and $299. Of course, people who bought the original Nexus 7 should feel the sting a bit less than if they had bought a “new” iPad back in March ($199 vs. $499 and up).The biggest impact of the new Nexus devices is the fact that Google has now spread its official flagship Android devices across the market to compete more broadly with Apple. With the advent of the iPad Mini, Apple now has a smartphone (iPhone 5), mid-sized tablet (Mini) and full-sized tablet (iPad). Google has three devices that can directly compete with Apple’s lineup and each has some advantages over its iOS counterpart. The Nexus 4 boasts better tech specs than the iPhone 5, including a quad-core processor and a larger screen. The Nexus 7 beats the iPad Mini on price, especially with the HSPA+ version coming in a full $160 below Apple’s cheapest cellular-connected tablet. The Nexus 10 beats the Wi-Fi iPad on price. This is going to be a slugfest between two heavyweights and each can point to multiple aspects of how their devices best the competition. Apple emphasizes that its mid-size Mini tablet has more screen area than the Nexus 7, while Google can laugh and point at the Mini’s price as exceedingly high. Android enthusiasts will likely love the Nexus 4 though it wont come anywhere near iPhone 5 sales. It will be interesting to see how the Nexus 10 fares. It enters a top-of-the-market ecosystem crowded by the iPad, Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 and Microsoft’s new Surface tablets. In its favor, the Nexus 10 will ship with Jelly Bean 4.2 at a very competitive price. The War Is Just BeginningNow that Microsoft has officially entered the consumer tablet market and its Window Phone 8 devices are on their way, the real battle for mobile supremacy between Apple, Google and Microsoft can start. This is the first time in the history of the mobile device industry that every major player has a full lineup of devices heading into a holiday season. Right now is a good time to be a tablet or smartphone buyer. No matter what your preferences are, what price range you are looking at or what your mobile carrier is, you have some terrific devices to choose from.  Tags:#Android#nexus series Role of Mobile App Analytics In-App Engagement Why IoT Apps are Eating Device Interfaces The Rise and Rise of Mobile Payment Technologycenter_img dan rowinski What it Takes to Build a Highly Secure FinTech … Related Posts last_img read more
